The hippo punished the fisherman

A certain Mate Wanjuku, a young fisherman from the Kenyan province of Sairan, along with his friend went to fish on Lake Naivash. They sailed on a boat from the shore literally 15-20 meters. Nothing foreshadowed trouble when a hippo popped out of the water. However, he did not like something and he quickly headed towards the people.

A friend jumped out of the boat and swam to the shore at full speed, and Mate decided to hide in the boat and lay down on its bottom. However, the hippo realized that the man was in the boat and began to turn it over. Mate, once in the water, decided to hide behind a fallen tree, but the hippopotamus grabbed him. But the animal was in no hurry to kill a person, and most likely was not going to do this.

Still, the enraged hippo patted the young man quite a bit, but miraculously did not inflict a mortal wound on him, even though the torment lasted more than five minutes. Local residents came running, and this saved Vanjuka. They did not enter the lake, but began to make noise and throw stones at the animal. The crowd scared the giant, and he decided to retire in troubled waters. Connoisseurs believe that the hippopotamus saw the fishermen as a threat to their relatives and decided to drive them out of their territory.
